Elements of Modern Farmhouse Fall Decorating

October 4, 2017

Fall wins the prize for my most favorite season. Bring on all the pumpkin bread, pumpkin spice, pumpkin lattes, pumpkin cheesecake… It’s the perfect time of year to wrap up in a cozy blanket in front of a fireplace with a good book and something warm to drink.
Modern farmhouse decor has made the rounds for the past few years, and I love the way this trend celebrates the fall season.  I’ve rounded up some gorgeous inspiration to get you in the mood for the season, so sit back and pin these gorgeous shots ASAP!

NATURAL ELEMENTS

With so many natural seasonal things to choose from, you can get creative pretty quickly. Mix and match pumpkins with items like cotton stems, the last-of-summer hydrangeas, eucalyptus wreaths, or branches and greenery from your hard.

A little dash of metallics and a variety of gourds dresses up a simple tablescape. Wouldn’t this be pretty for Thanksgiving?

Sprinkle in a few pieces of raw wood for extra depth.

SOFT COLOR

While bright orange pumpkins abound at every patch, take a more modern approach by choosing chalky white pumpkins or pale green gourds. It’s also a fun and easy DIY to paint a few yourself to get the exact shade you’re looking for.

Check out the local pumpkin patches for more variety than what you’d find at the grocery store. Local to Carlton Landing is Arrowhead Stables – their pumpkin patch always has beautiful gourds to choose from, and it’s a great way to spend a pretty Saturday afternoon with the kiddos. They also have several different games, a hay ride, and the family favorite “punkin chunkin’.”

TEXTURE

Velvet pumpkins with natural stems are beautiful when paired with rattan and other natural fibers.

ABUNDANCE

Finally, fall is a season of gratitude and abundance. Use repetition to continue your decor theme by using plenty of tiny pumpkins on your table.

And a darling individual loaf of bread doesn’t hurt, either.
